Spring Bank Holiday

The spring bank holiday, also known as the late May bank holiday, is a time for people in the United Kingdom to have a day off work or school. It falls on the last Monday of May but it used to be on the Monday after Pentecost.

For many people the spring bank holiday is a pleasant day off work or school. Some people choose to take a short trip or vacation. Others use the time to walk in the country, catch up with family and friends, visit garden centers or do home maintenance. However, in some parts of the United Kingdom, there are some customs associated with this day.

El día de fiesta del banco de la primavera, también conocido como el día festivo de finales de mayo, es un tiempo para las personas en el Reino Unido para tener un día libre de trabajo o de la escuela. Cae el último lunes de mayo, pero solía ser el lunes después de Pentecostés.
Para muchas personas el día festivo de primavera es un agradable día de trabajo o escuela. Algunas personas optan por ir de viaje o de vacaciones. Otros utilizan el tiempo para caminar en el país, ponerse al día con la familia y amigos o hacer el mantenimiento del hogar.

PARA CELEBRAR ESTE DÍA :

Recitaremos varios poemas y bailaremos dos bailes típicos de Inglaterra en primavera.

Los dos bailes que bailaremos son típicos de Inglaterra:

- MAYPOLE DANCING

- MORRIS DANCING.

Nosotros bailaremos el primero.

MAYPOLE DANCING:

El baile de Maypole es más a menudo asociado con las celebraciones del Día de Mayo en todo el mundo..Originalmente conmemoraba la llegada de la primavera,
La celebración del May Day y Maypole Dancing fue prohibida durante un breve periodo de tiempo en Inglaterra durante el siglo XVII, pero se ha seguido disfrutando desde entonces.
Antiguamente , la tradición era decorar un poste con guirnaldas de flores y hojas. Éstos eran conocidos como maypoles sin cinta y los bailarines simplemente circundaron el maypole en el tiempo con la música que fue proporcionada a menudo por la pipa y el tabor, el violín y cualquier otro instrumento podría ser encontrado. Más tarde, las cintas se unieron a la parte superior del maypole y los bailarines se arrollaron en diferentes direcciones alrededor del maypole sosteniendo una cinta cada uno para crear un complejo patrón de colores.

MAYPOLE DANCING:

Maypole dancing is most often associated with May Day celebrations all over the world but also happens at other times of celebration. Originally commemorating the arrival of spring.

The celebration of May Day and Maypole Dancing was banned for a short time in England during the 17th Century but has continued to be enjoyed since that time.

Originally, the tradition was to decorate a pole with garlands of flowers and leaves. These were known as ribbon-less maypoles and dancers simply circled the maypole in time with the music which was often provided by pipe and tabor, fiddle and whatever other instruments could be found. Later, ribbons were attached to the top of the maypole and dancers wound in different directions around the maypole holding a ribbon each to create a complex pattern of colors.
